Ranch History

Rancho El Dios is located in Graford, TX, and owned by the Herring family: Scott, Claresa, and daughters, Gabi and Annie. We have been passionately raising Texas Longhorns since 1998. We got our start in the industry from Don & Patsy Harrell with Full Circle H Ranch. Don passed on his love for the breed to Scott, and from there our herd was born. Our entire original herd was purchased from Don & Patsy, with many of them still living out their lives in retirement with us. Don and Patsy raised Possum Queen, who is the mother to Peacemaker 44. We all know the impact Peacemaker has had on the industry. The same original bloodlines are in our herd.

We raised R.E.D. Bartholomew our first year into the business, and he became a world champion bull shortly after. He won:

-TLBAA 2001 Horn Showcase Tip To Tip Champion Bull
-TLBAA 2005 Horn Showcase Tip To Tip Champion Bull
-TLBAA 2006 Horn Showcase Tip to Tip Reserve Champion Bull
-TLBAA 2006 Horn Showcase Total Horn 3rd Place Bull

He is the sire or grandsire to all of our foundation, homebred females we have in the herd today. He produced twist, handlebar twist, brindle, sound conformation, and super fertility.

From 2006-2013, the longhorns took a backseat to Scott’s rapidly growing stone masonry construction business, and we disappeared from the industry’s eyes. The herd is now managed by Scott’s daughter, Gabi. She took over the reconstruction of the program in the fall of 2013 after returning from Tarleton State University. Our herd is now coming together beautifully after purchasing two great bulls to outcross our genetics, Rio Desperado Rose SRC and High Caliber SRC. A full package animal is very important to us- conformation, fertility, horn, disposition, and color.

We hope to see you at future futurities, sales, and events. We have made many new friends in the longhorn industry and are very happy to be back into things. Thanks for visiting our website!
